Sample Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrival

Plataran Borobudur, Magelang

Arrive at Plataran Borobudur and check into your villa, close enough to the temple that the stupas are visible from the open terrace. Rest and refresh before a late afternoon walk through the property grounds. As evening settles, an optional sunset painting session at Enam Langit can be arranged, with the last light falling across the rice fields, followed by a dinner at the same table overlooking the grounds, available as an add-on to close the first night.

DAY 5

Prawirotaman and Local Flavours

Yogyakarta

The day begins at a traditional market, picking out the morning’s ingredients before the session starts. What follows is less a cooking class and more an education in Nusantara culinary heritage: the spices, the techniques, the history behind a single dish, and why it tastes the way it does. A full-course lunch closes the morning, made from everything gathered earlier. The late afternoon is spent on foot through Prawirotaman, Yogyakarta’s arts and heritage district, where galleries and boutiques occupy colonial shophouses that have been here longer than most of the city’s hotels.

DAY 6

Chocolate, Textiles and Local Tables

Kotagede, Yogyakarta

A morning in Kotagede, Yogyakarta’s heritage quarter of silver workshops and textile boutiques, starting with coffee at a local café and a browse through a boutique that has worked with Javanese batik tradition for generations, followed by a visit to a local chocolate factory, where the praline selection is worth the detour. We’re happy to recommend a handful of local favourites nearby, each with a different character, depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Javanese Wellness Rituals

The Rahita Wellness Sanctuary at Plataran draws from traditional Javanese healing practice. Reflexology, therapeutic massage, and an unhurried pace.

A Culinary Journey Through Java

From street-side sate klatak, goat satay skewered on iron bicycle spokes and grilled over open charcoal, to a restaurant built entirely around local mushroom farming, and royal court cuisine drawn from the Kraton’s own recipes, Yogyakarta’s food scene moves fluidly between everyday and ceremonial.

Good To Know

  • Best Time to Go
  • Getting There

Yogyakarta has a tropical climate similar to Singapore. The dry season (May to October) offers clearer skies and easier temple access. The rainy season (November to April) brings atmospheric conditions at Borobudur that are particularly good for photography. Avoid peak Indonesian public holidays for less crowded temple access.

Direct flights from Singapore to Yogyakarta (JOG). Flight time approximately 2 hours. Private transfer from Yogyakarta airport to Plataran Borobudur takes approximately 1 hour. Return transfer from Yogyakarta city to the airport takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes.
